Local players fair well at the World Seniors

Albuquerque NM – Eugene Coyle took home his first world title winning the 40+  singles division at the World Senior Championships in Albuquerque NM over labor day weekend. Alok Mehta won the 40+ mixed doubles title with partner Tina Heggan from Denver. Lola Markus also came home with two gold medals in singles and mixed doubles. Dave Negrete took bronze in the men’s 45+ singles division. The event was a round robin format with two pools. The top four players in each pool make up the single elimination playoff round on Saturday of the event. The tourney is a major fundraiser for the IRF. If you have never been to the event, I highly recommend it. The competition I tough but is spread out over four days and there is plenty to do in Albuquerque. For complete results you can visit
